It’s been a little more than two years since they were first rumored to be dating, and now there’s reportedly a proposal on the horizon. That being said, Scarlett Johansson and Colin Jost’s relationship timeline is definitive proof that good things can, in fact, come to those who wait. It’s pretty safe to assume that Johansson would probably consider herself a “relationship” kind of gal. In , Jost got his big break when he was hired as a writer for Saturday Night Live. Shortly thereafter, in January , Johansson made her debut as host on the sketch comedy show. Jost told Entertainment Tonight many years later that that was when he and ScarJo first crossed paths. Alas, he had to wait quite a while to make his move, as she was dating Josh Hartnett at the time. Johansson and Hartnett split in November , but she wasn’t single very long.

Just two months before, People magazine reported that Johansson had filed for divorce from her second husband, journalist Romain Dauriac — she was previously married to “Deadpool” actor Ryan Reynolds from to The two reportedly showed some PDA at the cast party.

Scarlet macaws are iconic animals in the tropical forests of Mexico, Central America, and South America. Soaring through the canopy, these large parrots fill the forests with their loud vocalizations, crack nuts and unripened fruits with their powerful beaks, and spend hours preening the feathers of their lifelong mates. For centuries, humans have admired these birds for their intelligence and beauty, characterized by bright red, yellow, and blue feathers.
Wild scarlet macaws are imperiled in parts of their range. While they retain a foothold in South America, they are endangered in much of Mexico and Central America, where only a few thousand scarlet macaws remain. A key threat to scarlet macaws is habitat loss. In recent decades, these iconic birds have also been captured and removed from the wild in large numbers to supply the pet trade, despite numerous national and international laws making it illegal to sell wild-caught scarlet macaws.
The U. Fish and Wildlife Service has supported long-term efforts to conserve scarlet macaws in both Mexico and Honduras with grants. In Mexico, a project in Los Tuxtlas Biosphere Reserve has led to reforestation of over 50 hectares of scarlet macaw habitat and reintroduction of birds to the wild to date. Two subspecies of scarlet macaws are recognized: Ara macao cyanoptera macaws live in parts of Mexico and northern Central America, and Ara macao macao can be found from central Nicaragua to Brazil.
With only a few thousand individuals left, the northern subspecies is endangered in Mexico, Belize, Costa Rica, and Panama, and Honduras. This subspecies has disappeared entirely from El Salvador. The southern subspecies remains common in South America, although some populations are declining.

National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration NOAA officials are considering taking desperate measures to rescue a debilitated endangered killer whale Orcinus orca , but it might be too late. J50, or Scarlet, is an ailing young orca who hasn’t been seen off the coast of Washington since Sept. Last night Sept. However, Scarlet has gone missing for more than a week in the past, only to reappear.
Coast Guard are operating under the assumption that she is still alive and are thus continuing their search from the air and the sea. If Scarlet is found, NOAA plans tocapture her for rehabilitation in captivity until she is healthy enough to return to the wild. The agency had success with the rescue and rehabilitation of a young orca once before, in , but it was a challenging endeavor.
If Scarlet is still alive, her health is deteriorating rapidly, and it’s unclear if capture would prove too stressful for this delicate orca.

The scarlet ibis is a striking tropical bird that is completely red except for its black wingtips. Its coloring, which intensifies as the bird ages, is the result of a diet heavy on crustaceans, which it plucks from mud and water with its long, curved bill. The scarlet ibis is a social bird, living in large flocks in the same general area for most of its life.
Males attract their mates with a number of displays, including songs and dances.

When it comes to movies, I am not a crusader. Rarely do I find the content of a motion picture objectionable on ethical grounds. Then again, films as morally repugnant as Captivity don’t come along too often thankfully. There is no requirement that a feature leave a viewer feeling good about himself, the world, or anything else. Cinematic endeavors should not, however, send audiences home in search of a shower to skim away a slimy, degraded feel. I can’t state with certainty that watching Captivity represents the most horrific experience I have ever had in a movie theater – but next to it, Freddy Got Fingered is starting to look better by the minute.
Perhaps I never truly understood the term “torture porn” until watching this movie. The various demented killings, maimings, and other assorted indignities performed upon characters most of them comely women are designed with one objective in mind: to get people off. Make no mistake about it – this is masturbation material for those who enjoy this sort of thing. There are defenders who will argue that “this is only a movie,” but there’s something about the way the suffering is crafted that hints at darker and sicker motives.

The aim of this study was two-fold: 1 to establish a hour time budget of two captive raptors using continuous sampling, and 2 to identify an intermittent scan sampling method that best approximates the results obtained by continuous sampling. The behavior of two captive raptors Buteo jamaicensis and Strix varia at The Raptor Center TRC was recorded continuously via video camera to produce an ethogram and time budget of behaviors performed within a single hour period.
Time budgets from each of these sampling methods were compared to those generated by continuous observation. Results showed that intermittent scan samples were not successful at approximating the results of behavioral observations yielded from continuous sampling, regardless of interval length. It is hoped that these findings can help caretakers around the world choose which behavioral sampling strategies are best for assessing the welfare of captive raptors. Department of Animal Science.

Starving Orca Feared Dead. But NOAA Isn’t Giving Up Just Yet.
Did you know that horned screamers are related to ducks, geese and swans, but have bills shaped more like game birds? Horned screamers also have a modified feather looking like horn on top of their head and possess some other unusual anatomical features. Most of their bones are permeated with air sacs that also exist in the subcutaneous tissue of the skin.
This construction results in rumbling or crackling noises when these birds take off, as the air sacs rapidly collapse after lift-off.
